Steamboat Springs

Steamboat Springs is located in northwest Colorado in the Routt National Forest of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. The forest was named after John Routt, the first governor of Colorado.

During the ski season, Steamboat receives more than 335 inches of snow. Its season usually starts on November 21st, but may be delayed until November 30th or later when there is a lack of snow. Snowfall is typically expected prior ro the opening day. Steamboat Springs boasts of some of the best skiing in the world.

The mountain where the western town is located has six peaks and 143 trails spread out over 2,939 acres. There are twenty lifts. A special treat are the four high-speed quad chairlifts. Swinging out at 3,668 vertical feet is a gondola which seats eight passengers.

Ski Touring Center

For all those interested in cross-country skiing, the town has a Ski Touring Center. It is located at Mount Werner, and offers trails that are gentle and challenging to the cross-country enthusiast.

Mineral Hot Springs

The town is famous for its hot springs. The natural setting of the Strawberry Park Hot Springs is particularly well-known. This hot springs is located just seven miles outside of town.

The Steamboat Health and Recreation has three hot pools that are heated naturally. They can be enjoyed by relaxing or swimming laps in them.

  • Gondola Pub and Grill - Enjoy baby back ribs and steak in this relaxing atmosphere where children are welcome.
  • Panda Garden - Delve into some Chinese cuisine with a buffet at lunchtime.
  • Cafe Diva - How about some roast tenderloin of elk or North Atlantic salmon?
