History
Canyon Ranch Resorts began in 1979 when Mel Zuckerman and his wife, Enid, opened the Tucson resort. Their philosophy then, and now, was to combine a beautiful and luxurious resort with an emphasis on healthy living. The Lenox Resort was added in 1989 and the others followed soon afterward.
New are the Canyon Ranch residences, luxury condos that are designed for healthy living. Residences include state-of-the art fitness areas, full European-style spas, and a restaurant serving gourmet spa cuisine, among other amenities.
These units are available for purchase or as short-term and long-term rentals. They are located in Tucson, Miami Beach, Bethesda Maryland, and Chicago.
Canyon Ranch - Tucson
Canyon Ranch Tucson sits on 150 acres in the Arizona desert. The ranch can accommodate up to 240 guests, housed in single-story cottages, scattered throughout the resort. The resort offers 50 different fitness classes and activities as well as spiritual classes, such as yoga and tai chi. The resort also offers tennis, swimming, hiking, and biking.
Canyon Ranch Tucson offers full preventative health care assessments and guidance as well as personalized nutrition plans. The facilities even include a demonstration kitchen to teach guests how to prepare healthy foods.
Not everything at Canyon Ranch is about exercise and healthy eating, however. The ranch offers a full range of health and beauty treatments, including massages, mud wraps, aromatherapy treatments, and facials.
Other Locations
In addition to the location in Tucson, Canyon Ranch has locations in Lenox Massachusetts, in the Berkshire Mountains; within the Venetian Resort in Las Vegas; as a part of the Gaylord Palms Resort in Kissimmee Florida, just outside of Walt Disney World, and on board the luxurious ocean liner, the Queen Mary II.
All of the Canyon Ranch resorts are different, although all offer luxury accommodations and a full range of spa and healthy living classes and consultations. In Tucson, guests can enjoy the desert scenery and take wander through the resort's cactus garden. At Lennox, guests can ski in the winter and enjoy hiking in the Berkshire Mountains during the spring, summer, and fall.
Staying at Canyon Ranch
Canyon Ranch Resorts are easily accessible from both coasts. The resorts' all-inclusive packages include accommodations, three healthy gourmet meals daily, transportation to and from the airport, and all taxes and gratuities. In addition, rates include daily fitness classes, full access to the spa, and a daily choice of lectures, workshops, and cooking demonstrations. If desired, packages may be customized to include health and nutrition evaluations and consultations with more than 60 wellness professionals. Accommodations vary with the resort, but all are luxurious.
