About Holiday Trav-L Park
Located on 1075 General Booth Blvd. in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Holiday Trav-L Park is the closest resort campground to the beach in the area. This campground offers 1,000 campsites and 300 hook-ups, including 400 for water and electricity, in addition to 250 tent sites and 34 cabins located one block off the beach.
Family friendly amenities include six playgrounds, four swimming pools, volleyball and basketball courts, a pet park and activities for adults and kids. The park is divided into several sections and offers many camping opportunities.
Range of Accommodations
The campground strives to accommodate every type of camper. At the high end, SuperSites measure 100-feet long and 50-feet wide with full hook-ups for water, sewer and cable, as well as standard household outlet and 50/30 amp power. These sites are best suited for motorhomes, RVs and trailers and are not appropriate for tents.
Smaller sites are also available for a range of recreational vehicles and most are pull-through. The noted exception are basic sites that vary in size and are back in only. Most will accommodate three tents for two to three people or two tents for four to eight people.
Cabins with and without air conditioning and heat are also offered, sleeping up to four people in a 12' x 12' room with a double bed and bunk bed. Guests must bring their own linens and pillows. There is an overhead fan, 15 amp electrical outlet, lighted porch, picnic table, BBQ grill and nearby water spigots. Pets are permitted in air conditioned cabins for a fee.
Campground Amenities
Holiday Trav-L-Park has sites for every type of camper and so many amenities that you might forget you are at a campground! There are amenities for the entire family and even for the family pet!
- Safari Cafe is open seasonally and offers breakfast, sandwiches and snacks. There is an on site laundromat with extra large capacity washers and dryers, plus lots of parking. In addition to two convenience stores, a Holiday Food Mart sells gasoline, diesel and kerosene along with groceries and prepared foods.
- For transportation, guests are offered a free parking pass at Virginia Beach, a trolley to take guests from the Cafe Calypso to the beach and beyond, and a paved 2.5 mile bike path to the beach that passes the Virginia Aquarium.
- On-site amenities include eight tiled comfort stations, a fenced-in full acre dog park, numerous pools and playgrounds, a miniature golf course, two basketball courts, a volleyball court, propane refilling station and more. There's even Wi-Fi for staying connected.
- Organized seasonal events range from bands and hayrides to movies and bingo.
Park Restrictions
Holiday Trav-L-Park has a number of rules and restrictions that they ask guests to observe for the safety and enjoyment of all guests.
- Do not change sites or set up until checking in with the office.
- Check out time is 11:00 a.m. Check in time is 1:00 p.m. If you have a cabin, you will be asked for a $20 key/damage deposit. On departure, you will be refunded the $20 after the key is returned and the cabin is checked. If you depart from the cabin late, or if the cabin has been damaged, you may be subject to the loss of your deposit and additional fees. Special arrangements must be made if you wish to arrive or depart from a cabin outside of office hours.
- Guests of people staying at the campground are allowed and those staying less than four hours are charged $2 per person; those staying more than four hours are asked to pay $6 per adult, $3 per child. Visitors are required to leave the campground prior to 8 p.m. Those wishing to stay after 8 p.m. must register in the office as overnight guests, numbers permitting.
- Reservations are guaranteed for a site type, not specific sites. Requests for a specific site may not be honored for reservations of less than five nights. If you wish to extend your stay, you may remain on the same site if the site is not reserved. You will have to move by check out time on the day the next camper's reservation begins.
- Fireworks, firearms or any type of explosives are strictly prohibited.
- Alcoholic beverages may be legally kept and consumed only on your site. No alcoholic beverages are permitted at any of the park's swimming pools.
- Pets are allowed on non-cabin sites as long as they are quiet, gentle and leashed at all times.
- Quiet hours are 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Pricing and Cancellation
There are many types of campsites offered in addition to cabins. Pricing depends on many factors including how long you plan to stay, the time of year you visit and the type of site you book. Cancellations are allowed with advance notice.
Camping Fees
Fees in the park depend on the season and the type of site booked. Guests can book online. Reservations are highly recommended because the park tends to book up in peak season.
Campsite rates include two adults and up to four children under the age of 18. Cabin rates include two adults and two children. Maximum occupancy is six people per campsite and four people per cabin. A two-night minimum stay is required for reservations between Memorial Day and Labor Day, and a three-night minimum stay is required on holiday weekends. Rates include one vehicle per site; additional vehicles are $5 per night. The maximum stay is 21 days for tent camping, and 90 days for camping with other types of units.
A 10% discount is offered to Good Sam members, as well as members of AAA, CAA, and AARP.
Cancellation Policy
Campsite reservations cancelled or changed with at least seven days notice will incur a $20 charge per week cancelled or changed. Campsite reservations cancelled or changed within 7 days of arrival will forfeit a one night deposit per week cancelled or changed. Cabin reservations cancelled or changed with at least a two-week notice will forfeit a one-night deposit per week cancelled. Cabin reservations cancelled or changed within two weeks of arrival will forfeit the full payment.
All refunds will be made in the same form as the payments were received. If you leave your campsite earlier than anticipated and notify the office by 11 a.m. one day before early departure, fees for unused days will be returned less a $20.00 early departure fee. Refunds and vouchers are not given for cabins.
Insider Tips
It is always prudent to look at the positives and negatives when staying at a campground that is so large and so popular so that your vacation expectations are met and you aren't stressed or disappointed in your stay.
- Holiday Trav-L Park is located within 1.5 miles of the beach and is in walking distance of many attractions.
- Take advantage of the numerous planned activities for kids and adults. This includes the live entertainment offered seasonally at the main pool.
- The trolley to the beach and boardwalk operates only during peak season and ends Labor Day weekend.
- Be aware that this camp is close to the U.S. Naval Air Base and you can hear fighter jets taking off and landing throughout the day and up to 11 p.m.
- Large turnover daily can make it challenging for the staff to keep up in peak season. Be patient.
- The main pool has loud music every night from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. in peak season, so if you want a quite spot, make sure you are not camping near it.
- Basic sites offer fewer amenities and are not located in the best locations as compared to SuperSite locations, which have more space and better services. Make sure you order all the hook-ups you need too.
- Avoid the 4th of July weekend when the park is especially crowded. In August, the East Coast Surfing Championships takes place and the area tends to get crowded too.

Sites and cabins will not be rented to people under 21 years of age or to groups with unrelated people under 21.

Campfires are allowed at your campsite. The park sells firewood at their grocery stores. If you cut a tree, the park is entitled to collect twice the value of that tree.

The campground is open year round. If traveling in the winter months, make sure your site is located near a heated comfort station.
Attractions in Walking Distance
While on vacation, it can be refreshing to leave the car keys behind and explore an area on foot. There are many interesting attractions within an easy walk or bike ride from Holiday Trav-L Park.

Virginia Beach has played an important part in American history because the first English settlers sailed into the Chesapeake Bay and landed at Cape Henry on April 26, 1607.

Virginia Beach Boardwalk and Bike Path was first built in 1888 and today it is a three-mile concrete esplanade stretching along the oceanfront from Rudee Inlet to 40th Street. There is also an adjacent bike path to accommodate bicycles, surreys, and skaters. Ramps for handicapped accessibility lead from the boardwalk to the beach and extend to the water's edge at certain points.
- Virginia Beach Pier is open 24 hours a day from Memorial Day through mid-October and is a popular spot for fishing and crabbing. There is tackle, bait and rod rentals as well as ice for sale in season. Fees are charged to fish on the pier.
- Virginia Aquarium offers so many things to see and experience. Nature paths wind their way through a variety of habitats, hands-on exhibits offer unforgettable fun, and the 800,000 gallon aquarium with over 300 species of aquatic animals is amazing. The aquarium also offers boat trips, special exhibits and a zip-line adventure park.
- Atlantic Wildfowl Heritage Museum founded by the Back Bay Wildfowl Guild is located at the oceanfront on Virginia Beach and offers displays and artwork of wild fowl history in this area.
- The Atlantic Fun Park located on the boardwalk has rides, a midway and the biggest Ferris wheel on Virginia Beach, offering a fabulous view of the surrounding area. This park is open seasonally.
- Beach Street offers concerts, entertainment and special events year-round on the Virginia Beach oceanfront. Check their website for a listing of events.
- Virginia Beach Surf & Rescue Museum located on the boardwalk highlights the history of the area's maritime heritage including stories of shipwrecks, storms, lifeguards and more.
- Cape Henry Lighthouse stands near the site where the first English settlers landed and has a long history of guiding ships. Today visitors can climb to the top of the lighthouse to take in spectacular views. The lighthouse is open year-round.
